Oak Hill's Hawks

Every year in the fir tree behind the 6th green a family of hawks returns to their nest to raise a new batch of chicks. We've been enjoying seeing these hawks for many years now and hopefully we'll continue to see them in future years. You can hear the babies crying for food when they're first born and the mother feeds them for a while. In late spring or early summer the mother hawk leaves the nest and the babies are left to fend for themselves. They cry for their mother for weeks, even though they are capable of flying and feeding themselves. It's quite a sight to see them in the trees around the course. The pictures below are complements of Dennis Leffler and are of the hawks in the sping of 2005.

2010 Update: the hawks have moved to a new home and are now nesting on hole #8 about 1/2 way down in a tree on the right.
